Providing speeds of up to 400 Mbps, the Dynamode PCI-3PFW 3-port FireWire Card makes for an excellent expansion facility. Although USB 2.0 has a peak theoretical speed of 480 Mbps, FireWire is much faster in practice, because it applies no load on your computer's other resources such as the processor. It also differs from USB 2.0 in that it is exceptionally reliable - if you need a constant, high throughput - which camcorders need, for example - then USB 2.0 is simply not an option.

The Dynamode PCI-3PFW 3-port FireWire Card has some nifty features that make it a joy to use. For example, PCT resettable fuses provide reliable over-current protection, hot-plugging is supported, and up to 63 nodes are dynamically configurable on the bus, so there's no need to turn off the system when attaching or removing IEEE 1394 devices.

The Dynamode PCI-3PFW 3-port FireWire Card provides 3 ports that operate completely independently of each other in order to maximise your peripheral connectivity. It's compatible with IEEE 1394-1995, P1394a(rev1.1) and OHCI(rev1.0) standards, and interfaces with a normal PCI slot in your desktop computer.
