

The digital switchover is a process of switching the country's television signal from an analogue signal to a digital one and is being introduced to cope with the number of channels broadcast. The new digital signal will give a much stronger signal to all homes and allow better reception, picture and sound and accommodate high definition shows.

Most counties have now been switched over already, although if you are in one of the remaining areas you will switch over during 2012.
Below is a graphic on that shows which areas have been switched and which are remaining. Opposite are the dates for the remaining regions.
